Review from Yelp – (jeanie k. 09/23/2011)

This is THE place to get results HANDS DOWN. I have tried many different places and I will proceed to list all the reasons Kun Seob (aka “Jason”) Lim is THE BEST there is.

First off, here is a dirty laundry list of things I needed to be treated for:
-tmj
-sleep apnea/shortness of breath
-neck & shoulder pain
-poor digestion
-poor blood circulation
-poor immune system
-irregular periods
-frequent headaches, migraines
-chronic fatigue
-feeling sluggish
-feverish body type
-anxiety
-heel pain

As you can see, the quality of my life was seeming pretty bleak and w/o a healthy disposition it is difficult to do anything.

After exhausting my Western Medicine options (primary care, rheumatology, orthodontia, dental, tmj specialist, gynecology, pulmonary, and the like) I tried various acupuncture clinics that were the pretty standard run of the mill – they either place needles directly where you are feeling the pain, or else all over your body (you would think the more needles the better but I’ve since learned that this is not the case). Finally, from a distant referral, I decided to “test out” Dr. Lim in the L.A. Medical Center plaza @ 6th & Ardmore.

Ambience:
His office is simple, clean and small – lobby, 2 rooms, 3 beds. This is favorable to the more “commercial” or cold hospital-like feel of larger establishments or the old, musty, hanyak (Chinese medicine tea) smell and feel of hole-in-the-wall places. It is a very happy medium.

Although his English is limited, communicating with Dr. Lim has never been a problem. He is a relatively young doctor who speaks and comprehends well (and tries to be more fluent) and takes the time to make sure he understands your ailments as well as being thorough with his explaination of how your body functions and how the treatments work and will benefit you. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable in his craft, he is methodical, meticulous, friendly/pleasant, compassionate, conscientious, and trustworthy.

Treatment:
As I have stated, I learned a lot about my body from Dr. Lim. I have been going to him consistently about 2-3x/week for a month now. Every time I go, I tell him where I am feeling pain or discomfort. He strategically places only a handful of needles in the areas that directly corresponds to the pain and it is usually no where near the pained area. The relief is instantaneous as he stays with you to show you the before and after effects of the puncture. What I LOVE about Dr. Lim is that he treats the ROOT of the problem, NOT just the symptoms. As with most people, I have a natural fear of needles and don’t find it a particularly a pleasurable experience UNTIL AFTER the needles are in. After the initial prick I slowly start to feel very relaxed and end up falling into a light slumber. It is unlike a massage where you keep going back because it feels good. I keep going back because I see and feel RESULTS. Truth be told, I no longer feel the need to even get massages anymore because acupuncture is so much more effective.

Conclusion:
Complete rehabilitation is still a work in progress of course but I already know I am a thousand times better, and much much happier! Now I believe that acupuncture can heal almost anything and I will surely go whenever I have discomfort or weakness in any part of my body. THANK YOU DR. LIM!!! 🙂
